Bitaxe Gamma 601 cooling, maximum performance

The Bitaxe Gamma 601 cooling and get the most out of your miner. Lower the temperature to 20 degrees Celsius.

Alright folks, this blog post won’t be particularly long, as it’s a “crafting video” that explains everything in about 30 minutes.

Video: Bitaxe Gamma 601 cooling, maximum performance

Language: 🇩🇪|🇬🇧
☝️ Use YouTube subtitles for all languages.

Some technical details about the video:

Heat sinks for the following chips:

Power Chip7 x 5 mm
Reverse side Power Chip10 x 10 mm
Spule8 x 6 mm
ASIC Chip, reverse side15 x 5 mm
WLAN/Firmware Chip16 x 15

I’ll show you where the respective components are located on the circuit board in the video.

Make sure that the heat sinks you prepare or use are slightly larger, if space allows. The goal is to dissipate as much heat as possible.

I use a commercially available adhesive paste for bonding:
“Thermal Conductive Heatsink Plaster Viscous Compound Glue PC GPU CPU.”
There is no specific brand name for it 😂 I show the tube in the video; it comes from China, but should be available from all major mail order companies.

Heat sink on the ASIC chip:

The heat sink for the ASIC chip is rotated so that the hot exhaust air is expelled upwards and downwards.

☝️ Disclaimer – please note!

The processes described here are not standard solutions. They are alternative ways of extending, updating or changing something.

I accept no liability for damage of any kind! Furthermore, this procedure does not necessarily have to work for you – there are simply too many factors that can influence the result.

Additional fan on the rear:

The actual cooling effect only becomes apparent when an additional fan is mounted on the rear. This can be easily achieved with a Y-cable (“4-pin PWM for computer fan 1 to 2 splitter cable”).

The fan I used is a
Noctua NF-A4x10 PWM, 4-pin, 5V case fan, 40 × 40 × 10 mm.

The soft plastic from the 3D printer is easy to break off. The fan can then be attached with “heat-resistant adhesive.”

The analysis of the additional cooling is shown at the end and checked with a thermal imaging camera.
