Fact check Facebook has officially discontinued fact checks. They seem to be active again in Europe now, what’s up! I’ll tell you!
According to “Facebook”, my account has been restricted in its reach. On Instagram and X this is not the case, just use these channels to not miss new posts or subscribe to the newsletter 🙏
Yes, it wasn’t fake: at the beginning of January 2025, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook (Meta) was discontinuing its third-party fact check program and switching to a community notes system – similar to that of Elon Musk’s X.

Was genau hat Zuckerberg gesagt?
„We’re going to get rid of fact‑checkers and replace them with community notes similar to X“ – in einem Video erklärte Zuckerberg, dass man „mehr Rede, weniger Zensur-Mistakes“ wolle, da die bisherigen Faktenprüfer zu viele Fehler machten und „zu politisch voreingenommen“ gewesen seien.

When did this come into effect?
The announcement was made on January 7, 2025, and these changes have been in effect since then – at least in the USA. According to Meta, de facto audits have so far remained in place in the EU in order to comply with local regulations (e.g. Digital Services Act).
Even if you live in a non-EU country, you will be blessed by the morons. It’s difficult to object to Facebook pages – and in most cases you’ll be blocked immediately if you object. This block can only be explained as “comply or die”. Your objection will not be dealt with objectively.
